Many names have special meaning or history. For example, the name Vincent means “conqueror.” (… fitting, no?)
Write about your own name. Who named you? What does your name mean? Does it have a special ethnic or religious significance? Are you named after someone in your family? If you could change your name, would you?

Here’s an example of a good entry:
My name, April, means “opening,” in the sense that flowers open their blooms in the spring. I wasn’t named after anyone, and my mom told me that my Indian name translates roughly to Spring Flower. I prefer that meaning, frankly.
My parents chose my name for me, and I couldn’t change it for that reason. Plus, I’m so used to it by now that I’d never remember to answer to a new name. The only time I consider changing my name is when dumb people make their dumb jokes: “Oh, April? I thought it was January! HAHAHAHAHAHA!”
1. Like I’ve never heard THAT before.
2. It’s not funny and never has been.
3. Leave me alone.
I like my name. It’s unusual enough that there aren’t twenty people in the room with my name, but it’s not so uncommon that no one can pronounce it. In fact, I think an excellent way to honor a favorite teacher would be to name a kid April. (I’m just saying is all.)

My name is Sha’Kyra Glenise. I am not sur why my name is Sha’Kyra but, my family has a tradition of having apostraphes in our names. I know my middle name is Glenise because i was named after my aunt Glenda. If i could change my name it would be navaeh because that is heaven backwards and i always thought that was kind of neat and, when i have a child of my own that will be her name.

My name is Sarah. My name means “princess” in Hebrew. I quite like my name and its meaning! My mom and dad named me together. Another reason I like my name is because I was named after Abraham’s wife in the Bible. Whether or not it was so I would be “fruit-full” or not I do not know. I also hate it when people spell “Sarah”, “Sara”. I ABSOLUTELY hate it. When people spell it as “Sara” it does not mean any thing. “Sara” is the Roman translation of “Sarah”. So yes it bothers me a lot when people miss spell my name “Sara” and once I’ve told them how to correctly spell it they say, “Oh well!”

My name, Gregory, means “watchful, alert.” My mother named me after the eldest son of the Brady Bunch family. Without knowing, my parents had named me after several different saints. The most renowned one being Pope Gregory I, or Gregory the great.
My friends had called me Gregorius many a time. With some later research, I found that Gregorius was actually the origin of the name in Latin.

The name James comes from a long line of kings and biblical creations.
I was named after my dad and several other of my family members. James is a very poular name these days.
James is also derived from the latin name Jacomus. If I could change my name, it would definately be Jacomus.

My name doesn’t have a meaning. My mom named me because the woman in the delivery room with her was going to name her child that, but she lost her child, so my mom named me Charlsea. Also, my grandpa’s name is Charles, so it worked out for best.

My name, Teresa is like no other name you’d hear. It means “reaper” and that’s why I LOVE it. First, my mom was going to name me Usheeka. Fortunately for me, my dad stepped in. I would not change my name if I was paid.

My name is Danielle, which means “God is my judge”. My mother gave me this name because she just liked it. I am not named after anyone in particular. I thought it was cool that my name is the feminine for of the name Daniel (even though I don’t really think my mother named me that for religious reasons), and the orgin is Hebrew. I wouldn’t change my name even though people don’t really know how to say it or really spell it. There have been multiple times when a teacher mispronounces my name. I have to admit, it is a little fun to hold a grudge against someone for such a dumb reason as that, but oh well.

I was named after my donor (father) his name is Calvin Jones my name is Calvin Dexter so i do not really understand that. Calvin means “bald” and Dexter means “one who dies” so together that means “bald one who dies”. I have been told that it is easy for people to remeber my name because of the show Alvin and the Chimpmunks so when I het in trouble people go Calvin! Calvin!! Calvinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!. If i could change my name i would not because not many people are named mean ” bald one who dies” it is always seen religously because of John Calvin.

My name is Tameeca, which means “Goddess.” My mother gave me this name because her best friend who was also having a baby at the time was going to name her daughter that, but it turned out she was having a boy , so my mom liked that name so much so she named me Tameecs. My name is derived from American. English. I was not named after anyone in my family, and i am really happy about that. Overall I love my name and i would not change anything because my name is so unique with the spelling and meaning, that it fits me so perfectly.

My parents gave me my name, Leslie, because it was kind of a last resort. My mother wanted to name me Daniel, and my father wanted to name me Angelica. Unable to decide, they named me after a friend of the family. His, and yes i said his, name was Don Leslie Pittman.I hated the fact that i was named after a male for the longest time,so, i used my middle name Nicole.
However, I just dealt with it and called myself Leslie once more. I have come to love my name actually because of its peaceful meaning, “garden by the pool.” The name Leslie is “Gaelic,” which is like an old Scottish language. It sounds beautiful like a woman should be, not masculine. I wouldn’t chane it for the world.

My name, Corwyn, means “Raven” in the latin meaning. My name was given to me by my father. He found the name in an old book trilogy he read, the name was of Merlin the great sorcerers father, but in that spelling it was “Corwin”. I would never change my name due to it being a unique name that everyone can usually pronounce.

My name is Jordan. My parents both agreed on the name because they weren’t sure if I was a boy or a girl before I was Born. They got my name from a movie they watched and the rest you know. Some say the meaning of my name is flowing down or to descend. If I could change my name, Iwouldn’t because then it wouldn’t be my name.
