I agree with the statement. The reason being is that teens have a lot more to worry about now then they did back then. Teens now have to worry about school and plans for their future. Another reason being is that teens today have lost their innocents. What I mean by that is a lot of the things we hear and see on television you wouldn't have heard or saw if you were a teen 50 years ago.

Nowadays, teens have it pretty good. The only thing we worry about now is what outfit we are going to be wearing.
50 years ago, teens had racial discrimination, wars, and much more poverty.
I think being a teen 50 years ago is much tougher than being a teen now

Teens 50 years ago had to deal with alot of problems, and so do we. Today we have alot of activities and busy schedules that cause extreme stress. We also have more parents divorcing and leaving and not coming back sometimes causing depression. We have higher standards of education to achieve in order to make it in society today (besides those random idiots that seem to slip through somehow >.<). We have higher gas prices, lower money rates, and higher intuition prices to get into the college of our choice. We have higher crime rates, more gang violence IN SCHOOL, a tougher society to break into to make it in the world.

Teens 50 years ago were tormented by segregation. There was violence between the white students and the black students (I hope I have the right years O.o). Most students worked for their parents and couldn't decide what they wanted. Their technology didn't allow them the convienences we have today. They had a stricter way of living in some situations.

I disagree that life was easier 50 years ago. There are people today raised on too many conveniences, they are spoiled and don't know it. There are people that don't work for anything and are lazy bums. I disagree because society for teenagers wasn't an easy one, Teens actually had to work unlike many today.

I agree that it was easier for people fifty years ago. Fifty years ago they didn't have the same problems we have today. Today teens have to think about the future and plan what they want to do before they can do it. School today is a lot more challenging than it was fifty years ago, even what is considered by most people not challenging classes would be challenging to students in high school fifty years ago. We also recieve more homework on a daily bases and on top of that some students have jobs that take up most of their free time after school. Parents put more pressure on students now than they did fifty years ago to do well in school, and in order to make it in the real world today you need a college education which you can't recieve unless you do well in high school and college. Overall, students today face more problems and pressure.

It was a simpler time fifty years ago. I mean sure everyone has their problems, but the times are very different. Fifty years ago, a lot of people didn't just sit on the couch and watch television or talk on a cell phone. They did things together with other people, usually out side. Most of them weren't that disappointed when they didn't get what they wanted. Everything eventually would turn out for the best. Now we have kids that throw fits because they don't get what they want right then and there. Back then families seemed to be a lot closer. I have seen a marital status that shows that the divorce rate is higher now than it ever was. So teens back then were not depressed about parent being divorced. That is a hard issues that teens today deal with. That is a lot of stress to deal with

I agree with this statement. One reason being teens 50 years ago did not have to deal with peer pressure, unlike teens today. Today, we are also pressured about what our lives are going to be like in the future and 50 years ago, teens basically did what their parents did because they didn't know any better.

Ms. Vincent says:
But they didn't have the choices and opportunities that today's students have. Isn't it better to be given the option to do something you really love, instead of being forced into an occupation just because your dad does it?

I agree and disagree on different bases. I agree on the statement where as that teenagers today have much more peer pressure along with the T.V. breathing down their neck. Also, the internet is more accesible, thus the ability for teenagers do things they know they should not. Teenagers today also have much busier schedules such as more clubs, organizations, and teams at school. My disagreement on the statement stands on the fact that the teenagers did not have easy access to the T.V. or the internet in order to have easier communication and entertainment. They also did not have as many automobiles as teenagers today do; therefore preventing them from participating in as many things as we are able to today. It may have also been harder for them because World War II relief efforts were still occuring in many places.

Ms. Vincent says:
Don't teenagers choose to take part in those clubs and activities? Can that really be blamed on the age we live in?

I disagree with this statement. Teens have it alot easier now adays. teens today may have more stress but they also have morwe things to get trough it like cell phones,t.v, internet, computars, ect. Also parents are alittle more open minded. As time went by technology has evanced and so as the teen dependance on it. Because of this I think teens have an easier time.

Ms. Vincent says:
There are those who would say that technological advances have made kids dumber. (I will keep my opinion to myself.) Is dependence on technology a good thing or a bad thing?
